§ 18-32. Coin-operated devices, defined; requirements.

  • (a)

    Coin-operated device is defined as a device which upon the insertion of dollar bills, coins greater in denomination than $0.01, or a debit or credit card, or a transaction card, or a combination thereof, operates or may be operated as:

    (1)

    A game or a contest of skill or an amusement for the return of a trade token or ticket or which makes no provision whatsoever for the return of money to the player.

    (2)

    A game or contest of skill or amusement wherein or whereby the player initiates, employs, or directs any force generated by the machine, apparatus, or device.

    (3)

    A machine vending recorded music or a type of radio, television, or movie entertainment.

    (4)

    A machine where the only incentive to operate is to procure or receive merchandise of a reasonable value.

    (b)

    The owner of any permitted coin-operated device shall comply with all federal, state, and local rules and regulations applicable to coin-operated devices including, but not limited to, federal privacy regulations.
