§ 2. General powers of town enumerated.

  • The Town of Minneola is hereby granted the power to perform and furnish all public services and to acquire and dispose of property either within or without its corporate limits for public uses and for the protection and preservation of public improvements. Such property may be acquired, by purchase, gift or by condemnation, the right of condemnation being granted whenever it is necessary to acquire property for any municipal purpose, to issue and sell bonds for municipal purposes, to adopt and enforce police, sanitary and other regulations, to construct, acquire, lease, maintain, and operate within or without its corporate limits, wharves, warehouses, break waters, water works, parks, drives, streets, walks, pavements, sewerage systems, water systems, lighting systems, lighting plants, telephone system, power plants, cemeteries, pest houses, school houses, hospitals, and public libraries for the use of said Town and its inhabitants, and to make contracts of any nature whatsoever in connection therewith and to do whatsoever may be deemed necessary or proper for the safety, health, convenience and general welfare of said Town and its inhabitants. The enumeration of powers herein shall not exclude powers which the Town might rightfully exercise but which will not herein be enumerated and all powers granted generally to cities and towns by the Constitution and Laws of the State of Florida, are hereby reserved to the Town of Minneola, when not in conflict with this Charter.
