§ 4.1. When elections held; conduct; calling.

  • (a)

    Regular elections. The regular city election shall be held every year on the first Tuesday after the first Monday in November.

    (b)

    Special elections. The council shall by resolution order special elections, fix the time for such elections, and provide for holding such election.

    (c)

    Conduct of elections. All city elections shall be governed by the provisions of the Charter and of applicable state law. The council by ordinance may further regulate elections, subject to the provisions of the Charter and applicable state law.

    (d)

    Mayor to issue proclamation calling election; contents; publication. Thirty (30) days (holidays and Sundays included) prior to the date of any and all elections, the mayor shall issue a proclamation and said proclamation shall specify what questions or propositions are to be submitted to the voters, which officers are to be elected, the length of time such officers are to serve, the date such election shall be held, and the place such election shall be held. Such proclamation shall be published once each week for four (4) consecutive weeks in a newspaper circulated within the City of Minneola, Florida, prior to the date of the election called by such proclamation.
